History and Mission
Institutional development, neurological focus, and the mission guiding CIREN's clinical and scientific work.
Institutional Foundation
CIREN was founded on February 26, 1989, in Havana, Cuba, as a scientific-medical institution dedicated to the restoration of neurological function. Over more than three decades, the institution has attended to over 140,000 patients from approximately 94 countries across all continents.
The institution began with two original therapeutic programs — Neurological Restoration and General Biological Restoration (REBIOGER) — and has since developed multidisciplinary clinical teams and international patient services, becoming a reference center for neurological care in the region.
Mission
CIREN's mission centers on providing specialized neurological care through a multidisciplinary approach that combines clinical evaluation, individualized rehabilitation, and scientific research. The institution seeks to support patients with neurological disorders and their families while advancing understanding of neurorestoration.
This mission is pursued through individualized patient assessment, intensive rehabilitation programs, and ongoing scientific activity — always recognizing that treatment outcomes vary by individual and that rehabilitation does not guarantee recovery.
