International Patient Services

Treatment Program Structure

CIREN's assistance program combines a comprehensive evaluation week with personalized intensive neuro-restorative treatment cycles, with optional advanced therapies.

Two-Phase Program

Evaluation Followed by Intensive Treatment

Every international patient at CIREN follows the same structured path: a first week of comprehensive evaluation, followed by personalized intensive neuro-restorative treatment delivered in continuous four-week cycles. Each phase has a clear clinical objective.

Phase 1

Evaluation Week

1 week

Diagnostic confirmation and definition of therapeutic possibilities. All necessary studies, lodging, medical assistance, and nursing are included.

  • Comprehensive neurological and clinical assessment
  • Neuroimaging, neurophysiology, and laboratory studies
  • Definition of the individualized treatment plan
Phase 2

Intensive Treatment Cycles

4 continuous weeks per cycle

Personalized, multifactorial intensive neuro-restorative treatment. Each cycle has its own specific objectives, building progressively on the previous one.

  • Intensive neuro-rehabilitation, 7 hours daily in two sections
  • Monday to Friday full days, Saturday half day
  • Cycle objectives tailored to the individual patient
Three Categories of Treatment

What the Program Includes

CIREN's treatment program draws on three distinct categories of therapy. Understanding the difference helps clarify which treatments are standard neurological care, which are Cuban biomedical developments, and which form CIREN's core restorative approach.

Category 1

Standard Neurological Medicines

Conventional pharmacological treatments prescribed according to international clinical guidelines for neurological conditions. These are widely used medications, not specific to CIREN.

  • Levodopa and dopamine agonists for Parkinson’s disease
  • Cholinesterase inhibitors for Alzheimer’s disease
  • Antiepileptic drugs for seizure management
  • Anticoagulants and antiplatelets for stroke prevention
Category 2

Cuban-Developed Treatments

Biomedical therapies developed in Cuba and available at CIREN as part of its treatment programs. These are unique Cuban innovations, distinct from standard international medications.

  • NeuralCIM® (NeuroEPO) — intranasal neuroprotective therapy
  • Developed for neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
  • Specialists recommend treatment with 12 bulbs per month
  • Prescribed when clinically indicated by the specialist team

Additional cost per bulb. Availability for international patients is limited, confirm well in advance with the Coordination Desk.

Category 3

Rehabilitation & Restorative Therapies

The core of CIREN's restorative approach: intensive, multidisciplinary neuro-rehabilitation delivered in structured cycles, combined with non-invasive brain stimulation when indicated.

  • Intensive physical and occupational therapy
  • Cognitive and neuropsychological rehabilitation
  • Speech and language therapy
  • Non-invasive brain stimulation (NCIS) — 15 to 30 sessions recommended

NCIS is available at additional cost per session when clinically indicated.

Standard neurological medicines are prescribed per international guidelines and are not CIREN-specific treatments. Cuban-developed treatments and rehabilitation therapies form the distinctive elements of CIREN's program. Your individualized plan is defined during the evaluation week.
