NeuralCIM® (NeuroEPO-plus)
A neuroprotective medication developed in Cuba for the supportive treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
Safety Profile
NeuralCIM® is administered intranasally, a route designed to deliver the medication to the central nervous system while limiting systemic exposure. Because NeuralCIM® is a modified form of erythropoietin that does not stimulate red blood cell production, it is intended to avoid the hematological effects associated with standard EPO therapy.
Reported Tolerability
Intranasal Route
Designed for local nasal administration with minimal systemic circulation, reducing the risk of systemic side effects.
No Hematological Effect
Formulated to avoid stimulating red blood cell production, unlike standard EPO.
Outpatient Setting
Administered under clinical supervision during the treatment program at CIREN.
Repeatable Cycles
Used across treatment cycles as determined by the supervising neurologist.
Possible Side Effects
As with any medication, side effects may occur. Reported effects associated with intranasal NeuroEPO in studies have generally been mild. Patients should report any unusual symptoms to their treating physician.
- • Mild nasal irritation or discomfort
- • Sneezing or nasal discharge
- • Headache
- • Individual sensitivity reactions
Contraindications and Precautions
- • Known hypersensitivity to erythropoietin or any component of the formulation.
- • Conditions where increased hematocrit would be hazardous, as a precaution.
- • Pregnancy and breastfeeding, unless specifically authorized by the treating physician.
- • Use in children is determined by the specialist on a case-by-case basis.
Clinical Supervision
NeuralCIM® is prescribed and administered only under the supervision of CIREN's medical team. The decision to include NeuralCIM® in a treatment program is made by the neurologist in charge of the case, following comprehensive evaluation and based on individual clinical suitability.
